"Spring - the time where hopes are renewed, flowers are blooming and the sun shine non stop. "
This is the second time we are here are at this location for a fashion shoot. The first time we were here was last year right after the hungry ghost festival, and because we waited until the festival ended then we came to this location, and the flowers were already wilting. So, we waited again, and here we are back just about five months later. The thing is, this beautiful flower arch is actually located in a Japanese cemetery. Yes, you read correctly, this is a cemetery. We didn't want to step into a cemetery during the seventh month where "ghosts" are roaming around (according to Chinese belief). And these pretty bougainvillea flowers blooms fully only two times a year - once in March (spring) and another time in September (the dry season). e stone paths. Each detail to form a Zen-like living space of a simple and quiet atmosphere.
March is the best time to visit this very interesting Japanese cemetery - the only one in Singapore. A little background: This cemetery was founded by three Japanese brothel-keepers, and was built in 1891 as a burial ground for karayuki-san (Japanese women brought into Singapore for prostitution). Over the years, other Japanese civilians were buried here, mostly during the pre-war years. After World War II, ashes of Japanese soldiers, marines and airmen, as well as Japanese war criminals who were executed in Changi Prison were kept in this cemetery.
Back to something more light hearted, I am always keen to introduce you Singapore-made fashion brand, and today, I'm wearing a dress from Exhibit Store. I have been supporting this little home grown brand for many years, from a store in Far East Plaza to now, selling internationally, with many famous bloggers spotting a piece from this brand. This puff sleeve piece is absolutely comfortable, which I pair it with a surprisingly comfortable mule from Forever 21. These mules are such a steal. A full white outfit a fresh way to start this spring season. Do pop by Exhibit Store to check out other pieces of the collection.
PS: This is not a sponsored post but I am always happy to introduce great Singapore designs
